With so many announcements coming out regarding fighting games, it's hard to keep up with the constant feed. Marvel vs. Capcom 3, Street Fighter vs. Tekken, Tekken vs. Street Fighter, Street Fighter Third Strike Online Edition, Arcana Heart 3 coming out for the 360 and PS3, Mortal Kombat... God, there's just so much. It's like Christmas for all of us fighting game fans. They've got a flavor for whatever your heart desires...
But where is my new Guilty Gear?
I know that Sega holds the rights to most of the characters, and from what I'm hearing, ArcSys is slowly getting them back. Guilty Gear creator and mastermind to the whole series, Daisuke Ishiwatari even said himself: ‘I have the full intention to create Guilty Gear for PS3 and 360." And he's referring to a fighting game, nothing like Overture.
I mean, if you played Guilty Gear 2: Overture, you're probably like me: Crying softly into your pillow, wondering if you should like it or not. Personally, I liked it... When I was playing co-op with a friend. Outside of that, I like to think it isn't a Guilty Gear, seeing as it isn't a fighting game. I'm not sure if you guys think the same way, but to each their own.
Yeah, BlazBlue is the spiritual successor to the Guilty Gear series. And I won't argue it's a great game - I know it is. I play it more than nearly any other fighter I have in my collection, with the exception of Guilty Gear Accent Core Plus. We have so many Guilty Gear friendlies going on in my household per day, it's sad. As soon as they release a new Guilty Gear that has a method of online play, you may as well say your goodbyes, because you'll possibly never hear from me again. The only way that you're going to get me off that game is if you tell me that I have work in 30 minutes, or you're pregnant. Speaking of which...
I could possibly be a dad come February. The details to the whole matter are complex, so I'm not going to delve too deeply into it. Just as a sum-up: It may happen, It may not happen. So, I'm just going to rant about how awesome it would be to actually be a dad. If I (now or some other time) ever become a father, let me tell you... That little girl (It better be a girl, so help me God) at the age of 3 will know how to FADC like a pro, will burst when it's appropriate, and the first letters she will learn are going to be "K.O."
Being a dad would be badass. Yeah, the constant care and nurturing would be exausting, and I would have little time to play games in general. But wouldn't that time and effort be totally worth it in the end? I don't know, is any other guy here actually looking forward to being a father?
Apologies for rambling about the whole "dad" issue. It just feels like I kind of have something to look forward to... Also, a new Guilty Gear would be nice to look forward to, as well.
Final Word: I'd probably name her May, too.
