New screenshots have recently surfaced for Soul Calbur V which unveil three additional characters set to appear in the character roster of the latest installment of the popular weapon combat fighting game. Longtime Soul Calbur fans should be happy to hear of the return of series mainstays Raphael and Nightmare. Both of them are sporting fresh new looks with Nightmare getting some subtle appearance alterations while Raphael is sporting a new look altogether.  Aside from Nightmare and Raphael, they are joined series newcomer Leixia. Just from the looks of it, Leixia appears to be the replacement character for Xianghua based on her sword type and fighting stance.

Along with these screenshots unveiling characters, they also show off some additional stages to the game.  The variety of the new stages includes an icy cavern, a lush forest, atop of a building in China and a burning town. To my knowledge, the burning city is the first time the series has had NPC human bystanders in a stage.  All of the stages shown visually gorgeous and should be easily welcomed to players who enjoy a vast variety of different scenery.
One last thing worth noting is that Ezio from Assassin's Creed has been confirmed as the guest character for Soul Calibur V and with the announcement of Dampierre from Soul Calibur Broken Destiny showing up as a pre-order bonus DLC character. Ezio appears to have been integrated into the gameplay much like how Link was back on the Gamecube version of Soul Calibur II, as with fighting with their large arsenal of weaponry they carry around. Dampierre is a clown-like physical fighter whose moves range on the goofy side. There is no word on whether Dampierre will be available for purchase or not, but he likely will be at some point after release.

So, which addition to the character roster is your favorite so far? Feel free to discuss in the comments below.
Soul Calibur series had a good run ladies, and gentlemen no doubt. Looking on the success of "Soul Calibur 4" sales beyond Japan were outstanding, and was most likely the best episode in the Soul Calibur series that fans enjoyed. Sadly, rumors of team "Project Soul" breaking up is a indication of no chance for another title to be release... Or does it?

A producer named Katsuhiro Harada of the Tekken series, has decided to put a hold on Namco's funding, and decided if Soul Calibur was interesting to him via fanbase, he might resume the series further. Well the fanbase heard, and they responded proudly. In less then a week, about 3,000 people signed on Facebook's petition to prove to him that the fans want more! (If you wish to sign the petition yourself please follow this link

Harada had responded back to the Facebook petition by confirming that he, and Namco will begin working on the soon to be SC5! Harada had even said to the fans; "Yes I'll share this petition with my Staff, Directors, and SC Senior Producer / Leader Mr.Yotoriyama. I promise. ... Our team will be interested in your opinions that much if there are a lot of followers. ... Of course, it becomes the power of the number of these petition. ... I love fighting games. Thanks" -Katsuhiro Harada

Harada now is working closely to understand what made the Soul Calibur series so successful, and he is working actually closer to fans via Tweeter then his own backing company Namco to get the full satisfaction for the fanbase. The latest tweet Harada tweeted was this; "Yeah i found Soooooul Calibur !! I did co-director. My development team will be create new one .....?" -Katsuhiro Harada

While this doesn't mean the game is set in stone any time soon, it allows fans to get hyped, and ready for the next installment. SOUL CALIBUR 5!!!!!!!!!

KotS Interviews IdleMind of 8WayRun.com

Hope you enjoy the interview!

http://i66.photobucket.com/albums/h272/birdboss/8wayruncom.png?t=1285100151

KotS: Alright, to start, who do you main?

IdleMind: When I do play, I tournament main Cassandra most of the time; but I also am willing to use Mitsurugi or Astaroth as the matchup dictates. I would be playing Rock, but he's so bad =(

KotS: Do you enjoy the tournament scene? If so what do you like best about it?

IdleMind: I like the tournament scene because it feels like everyone really knows each other in this particular game. Unlike alot of other games, It never really felt like the top players were inaccessable to learn from or talk to like alot of other games. Also the average age of a SC tournament player tends to be a 20-something, college age kid; so theres a bit less chest beating and a bit more focus on having a good time.

KotS: Do you have any hopes or plans for Soul Calibur and Evo2k11?

IdleMind: I don't see it happening, to be honest. The game has a very small and dedicated scene; and would not attract the kind of numbers EVO would require. Also, the community is just getting back on it's feet after the whole Hilde ban-debate, so I feel like if SC was ever to get back into EVO, it wouldn't be until a new SC game arrives (and was good).

KotS: What are you looking for in an SC5?

IdlMind: That's a tough question, heh.
Right now; I'm just hoping there even IS an SC5.
I'm kind of hoping they follow the direction of other fighters and take a more active interest in the competitive community for input and game balance, as well as providing enough single player content to get people to buy the game and maybe become interested in learning it more deeply. Namco, in my opinion, has never been very good at teaching their own games, so alot of people tend to write them off as masher friendly, or scrubby. I guess the biggest thing I would like to see is Namco take an active step towards dispelling that notion... of course that probably wont make them as much money as FF7 guest characters, lol.

KotS: Yeah that would be really cool, do you like to teach people about SC, how to play, give them tips, introduce them to the community, etc.?

IdleMind: Well, I've been running tournaments for the game since it came out; and I've really been pushing 8wayrun to be more new player friendly. The problem with a community of established people is that they tend to be hostile to newer players, and I think that doesen't help anyone, really. I like teaching new people, because alot of new players are surprised there is so much to the game, also because every new player is another potential contributor which makes us stronger as a whole.
I myself have been guilty of being elitist in the past; but I'm really trying to change that attitude, because really, it helps nobody and makes our game look worse.

KotS: What compelled you to play SC and join the community?

IdleMind: The number 1 reason: Sick of Tekken

I had been playing Tekken since T3 competitively; and during T4, the community sort of fell out because the game wasn't very good. So, we moved over to Soul Calibur 2; played that, loved it... Sc3 came... and wasn't very good, so I went back to Tekken 5...DR, ect. SC4 came out, and it was "just right" as far as what I was looking for, and I never looked back at Tekken.
[5:06:52 PM] Jason Shumard: What compelled me to stay was the people. After having met most of them in person; I get along with them very well, much better than I did in the Tekken community.

KotS: SC2 was an amazing game.
Any last opinions/shoutouts?

IdleMind: Well, first of all thanks for interviewing me. I hope this gets people interested in SC a little more than they were before.
Secondly, play SC4... it's a good game, really. Just play it offline =)
Lastly, a shoutout to of course, 8wayrun.com for giving us a home.

KotS: On behalf of All is Fighter, thank-you for an exceptional interview!

IdleMind: Thank you for your time too!

Jarvitz Interviews Gotsu87:

jarvitz:     Hello, would you mind telling us who you are and a little bit of background information?

Gotsu87 : ok well my name is Tyrone i'm a gamer I’ve been playing Soul Calibur for like 8 years or so.

jarvitz: Ok, so who is your main and why?

Gotsu87 : Well I main Taki she is like the ninja of the series. She has speed, power, and great pressure and she's awesome.

jarvitz: Could you describe her move set or your favorite moves and combos?

Gotsu87: Taki her basic moves she has a lot of great moves like the possession is one of the best stances in the game she has speed which is her best weapon she can be very evasive one of my favorite moves are the ninja cannon u can do so many options here you can use your A to fake or use possession into a escape another one of my favorite moves is the wind roll u can be very tricky to use in the heat of battle like u can roll backwards, forwards, sideways, mixing that up very deadly she also has one of the best A attacks in the game like shadow ripper a good.
A+A attack into a B low stance.

jarvitz: hmm sounds good. Do you think she deserves to be in her spot on the tier list?

Gotsu87: Yes I do she's high in the tier list but not high enough to be god tier or S tier she's fast and she can hold her own if used correctly.

jarvitz: Well since she is high on the list, are there many bad matchups for her? And for you specifically?

Gotsu87 :
Yes she does have bad machtups Sigfried is one of her bad matchups she has long range and also has the stances can be very tricky to anticipate. Setuka is another bad matchup for Taki her stun's are very effective she to is very quick. another one to me is nightmare if used right and with his home field advantage anything with a ring out nightmare is very deadly nightmare is one of my worst matchups lol.

jarvitz: Ok, so how do you deal with these tough matchups?

Gotsu87:  I normally go in there with what brought Taki to dance her speed try to get quick moves executed her A+A, also her K ( when used crouching a great way to stun and very quick) also try to stay close into them to keep up the pressure and hopefully u win like i said before there's many options in the palm of your hands. Her ninja bombs are a great Taki move very quick as well.

jarvitz: So basically you just do what you normally do. No tricks except for maybe a stage. Which stages do you like and dislike?

Gotsu87: Stages that are my favorite hmmm.... I would say Egyptian Temple- Sacred Flame, Phantom Pjust avllton, and star destroyer docking bay everyone loves star wars lol my stages I dislike are just one Grand Labyrinth-Corridor of suspended time.

Jarvitz: Sounds fun.

Gotsu87:  lol .

jarvitz: So do you have any shout outs to anyone or any closing notes?

Gotsu87: Well just in all of us burns the soul of a warrior never give up if there's a will there's a way you just have to find it and I have a shout out to my friend Enrish that's all.

jarvitz: Ok, thanks from everyone at allisfighter.com

Gotsu87: Thanks
for your time.

8WayRun

Mikosu of 8wayrun.com states that 8wayrun will take part in AiF Soul Calibur events including the new SCIV nights.

Although he said "Many people hate online" he stated that many would still come out of devotion.

Forums

SC forums are a big questionable topic as of now, at the time with the current SC player total the answer is a resounding no.

However they will most likely without a doubt be made if more players are around on a regular basis, posting in offtopic forums, attending events (like SC4 night), etc.

More activity=better chances.

Ladder

Again as of now a resounding no, activity is much more so needed, however there will most likely be a poll for the next ladder season and you may vote for SC4 if you want ;)

Tournaments

Once the freeplay nights start up and we get regulars on the site we will start more SC4 tournaments, also anyone who wishes may host there tournies for SC4 on AiF and you may post offline tournaments on the site as well.

Step 3: We will choose if

C)You didn't do very well, but may have another try with another blg.
D) You did poorly and must speak with us upon if you should write another blog.

Step 4: You will be invited to the group providing  you passed steps 1 through 3. You will now be able to do SC content for the site. AiF Hosts: SC Online Tournament: Rule #15 Of Fight Club

SC Widgets

They're coming soon guys. Get hyped!

There has however been a set back (which is why they still aren't up) but expect them to be here shortly!

SC Forums

There isn't a whole lot of news at the current time about SC forums for AiF, however they will be made if we get some more SC players coming around, so give the tourney lots of hype and maybe you may just see them soon!

Hype

It's time AiF gets even more Soul Calibur hype, and as previously mentioned the tourney, and more tournaments after that is a great way!

But don't think that's the only way. Get more hype by commenting on SC Newsposts, creating and commenting on SC threads (for now use something like Off Topic), and give some hype to our Official SC Group!

A big thanks goes to 8wayrun for their continued support on the Soul Calibur section of AllisFighter.com!

This has been AiF SC Announcements #2

~KotS

Hey AiF, this is an interview I had with Bubbles of Soul Calibur. The first non-pro interview I've done. Enjoy!
Kots: hey
Bubbles: hey
Kots: ok so to begin, who do you main?
Bubbles: I used to main raphael but I now main algol
Kots: ah cool, so what region are you from?
Bubbles: maryland
Kots: cool, what are some of your thoughts and opinions on SC and its community?
Bubbles: well uhhh I like most of the people. really nice and willing to help people learn the game
Kots: nice, so when did you start playing competitively with SC? what made you do so?Bubbles
Bubbles: I havent gone to an event yet so I wouldnt call my self competitive but, I always played SC since SC1
Bubbles: I never really was really in the community till SC4 tho
Kots: what came to mind when you first picked up SC?
Bubbles: well nothing really came to mind per say. But I have a rep for being devoted to frame data
Bubbles: I focused a lot on the data aspect of the game
Kots: what were your thoughts about EVO 2K9, the results, the hype etc.
Bubbles: well I thought evo was relly interesting, It was really great to see hilde and algol lose also to prove a point, that they can be beaten
Kots: yeah always good to prove any character can lose
Buubles: a lot of people call hilde and algol BS without knowing about the match up
Kots: yeah true
Bubbles: hilde has bad punishment outside of doom combo. which means you can get away with doing something -14 on block almost everytime.
Bubbles: Getting a life lead on algol makes half of his game useless. He has trouble coming back from being down on life.
Kots: ah, do you like teaching people? have any apprentices?
Bubbles: nah, I'm a terrible teacher. Outside of framedata there isn't much I can teach. I'm not good at that kind of stuff
Kots: I see, do you enjoy playing other competitive fighters?
Bubbles: yes, although right now im restricted to online. my area has been dead for a long time. its a shame really, but I'll live. Everyone in my region is a tekken player
Kots: ah, so tell us a little about yourself.
Bubbles: well I like to play basic.
Bubbles: lots of BB spacing and back dash
Bubbles: single pokes
Bubbles: I love anime and manga
Bubbles: I also am trying to learn melty blood
Kots: cool, so are there any upcoming events you'd like to or plan to attend?
Bubbles: I don't think I will be able to honestly. I have no car, im pretty much broke, and im in online college so I doubt I'll be able to do anything
Kots: I see, so what do you want to do in the SC community? What do you plan to accomplish in competitive gaming?
Bubbles: well I would like to be competitive one day but right now it just doesn't seem in the cards.
Kots: alright so, what do you love the most about being part of the SC community?
Bubbles: the people definately. so much variety with the people here
Bubbles: people like idlemind and insanekhent are really funny
Kots: very cool, any final thoughts, opinions, etc.?
Bubbles: DONT PLAY SOUL CALIBUR BROKEN DESTINY
Bubbles: FOR CHRIST SAKE
Kots: Thank-you for this exceptional interview on behalf of All is Fighter
Bubbles: cya man
Kots: peace

Kots: Alright so to start, who do you main?

DreamKiller: I've always been a fan of Taki, but for SC4 I mained Amy and kept Taki a close second.

Kots: Ah cool, any backups/"just for fun" characters?

DreamKiller: Hmm. I can't really think of one really. For Calibur at least, I don't know why. For Tekken I'd say Lili and Julia though.

Kots: Do you enjoy the tourney scene? If so what do you like the best about it?

DreamKiller: The tournament scene is simply amazing and I suggest anyone who hasn't been to a tournament, to go to one ASAP. Especially majors. You get to meet so many people. And most of the time, they're really friendly. It's a great learning experience, especially if you have the drive and dedication.

Kots: Nice, what where your thoughts on Evo2K9?

DreamKiller: I have mixed feelings on Evo. I personally thought Bonus characters should have been allowed, since there is nothing wrong with them.Ruling aside though, Evo is the best thing the fighting game community has in the nation. It was definitely the greatest event I had ever been to, and it would be nice to see Calibur make a return. If it doesn't however, that's perfectly understandable. It's definitely not the community's fault.

Kots: I see, what do you want to see from namco when/if they announce a new SC?

DreamKiller: I want to see more effort and less lazy. I mean, don't get me wrong I will also play SC, no matter how bad or good the people think it is, and the effort they put into 4 was great, but one hit kills is something that is just not only unfair, but turns people off very quickly. Next time around, if the game does turn out to be like SC4, or even the games before it, more attention and more patches would definitely help us out.

Kots: ah, who are your worst match-up(s)? (character wise)

DreamKiller: Hmm, definitely a good Hilde player. Amy is a close second. Since she's so braindead lol.

Kots: Best match-up(s)? (character wise)

DreamKiller: to fight against, hmm it'd have to be someone super low tier like Mina lol.

Kots: lol, do you like to teach? Do you have any apprentices?

DreamKiller: Omg yes, I love to teach. I've contemplated quitting altogether and just go to tournaments to coach and teach. Since that's were everybody's all in the same room at the same time. I would be more comfortable with that decision now that I won a major lol. Unfortunately, as much as I love to teach, no apprentices at the moment. Although my greatest success in teaching, had to be Ramon.

Kots: What compelled you to join this community and to play SC, or any other fighting game you play competitively?

DreamKiller: Well for SC, it was simple, since the game is very easy to get into. Tekken is just a game I kinda enjoy, so I figured I would span my name out more. I got second at my first tournament, and never looked back since. I also know most of the NY Tekken players, so it's a game I like to double dutch in.

Kots: Very nice, any characters you want to get better with and/or pick-up?

DreamKiller: I've always wanted to play Ivy competitively, but she's really hard to master. I've liked her in the other games since she was simpler and more fun lol. Now, she has many tools, but difficult to apply.

Kots: Alright so last question, what do you aspire to do, become, accomplish, etc. in the SC community, or other fighter communities? (i.e. best Amy, best Taki, etc.)

DreamKiller: Well, I'm already considered the best Taki. I just really want to become known, by everyone, by doing whatever really. Whether it's running tournaments, consistingly placing, or just being DK. I'm known in Calibur, and it all started by playing a very unique Taki in 3. I want to do that now, with Tekken by being "that Zafina player, who's awesome" lol.

Kots: On behalf of AllisFighter.com, I'd like to thank you for this exceptional interview.

DreamKiller: Aaw thanx.
